Missy Graff Ballone
Fascia is the connective tissue that binds the body's internal structures together. My work explores muscle tissue, layers of fascia, and the notion of flexibility through the format of jewelry. I combine my perspective of the body as an art jeweler with my understanding of the human form as a massage therapist. My pieces relate to the physical forms of bodily structures, interior and exterior, and investigate the body's strengths and limitations through adornment. I want the viewer to feel compelled to interact with the necklaces. I invite the viewer to touch, compress, stretch and pull on the pieces to gain a tactile understanding of the material.
