Sawing/Drawing

I find value and beauty in the waver of the drawn line and the subtleties of the handmade object. I am constantly trying to capture these small moments of contrast where control and imperfection collide. In the large scale ink drawings, each line is carefully applied to follow the previous mark as closely as possible without interfering. Regardless of skill and attention, the initial line slowly changes and becomes curved, blotted and irregular. I translate this process and line quality directly into metal forms in the Sawing/Drawing pieces where line after line is hand cut with the jeweler’s saw, highlighting the subtle imperfections of the unalterable mark.
