The primal and archaic styles of historical adornment influence the work that I create. Latvian and Celtic adornment have recently been at the front of my visual research as maker. I am drawn to these sources due to their abstract use of line, shape, and form. In this series, I utilized wire as a method of drawing and sketching while at the bench. I limited myself in technique, tools, and process, which resulted in the raw elegance that these pieces hold. Depth was achieved by twisting two lengths together and unification was found with the use of brass as binding agent as well as an element of contrast. What I enjoyed the most about developing this series was simply keeping things well... simple!
