Contemporary Jewelry Gallery Seeks Summer Intern
Heidi Lowe, metalsmith and gallery owner, is accepting applications for a summer intern at Heidi Lowe Gallery. Applicants need to possess basic metalsmithing skills as well as organizational, office and computer skills. It is also imperative that the applicants are personable and trustworthy; having a good grasp on the history of jewelry is a plus. The intern will be learning about all aspects of the gallery and studio. The internship will include designing and making jewelry, working with customers, as well as the behind the scenes aspects of operating a gallery, such as organizing openings, mailings, e-commerce, artists files and helping with display.
Heidi Lowe Gallery is a unique gallery space that offers a fresh perspective on what jewelry can be; therefore, each piece is fun, unusual and thought provoking. The purpose of the space is to connect the public to innovative jewelry by studio artists. The exhibiting artists have the common goal to expand the public’s idea of the meaning and uses of jewelry.
The intern is expected to work 30 hours a week. The hours are flexible but will include some nights and weekends.
Compensation for this internship will consist of an intimate hands-on knowledge of gallery operations, studio facilities, and possible credits from institution (dependant on school requirements).
Applicants must have transportation. Heidi can help when it comes to finding housing and other work. Accommodations in the area are around 300-600 a month and work is plentiful.
